Ghana’s Parliament Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonu, has expressed his skepticism regarding Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central lawmaker, achieving even 20% of the total valid votes in the upcoming presidential primaries of their party. Instead, he indicated that the party’s delegates are likely to strongly favor Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He specifically mentioned his surprise if Kennedy reaches the 20% mark and further suggested that he might not even secure 15% of the votes in the Ashanti region.

“I would find it surprising if Kennedy Agyapong manages to garner even 20% in the presidential primaries,” stated the Majority Leader.

He commended the vice president for his economic expertise and his ability to positively impact Ghana’s economic situation. This comment confirms the Majority Leader’s endorsement of Dr. Bawumia as the party’s presidential candidate.

Furthermore, the United States branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shown its support for Vice President Bawumia’s candidacy in the upcoming election.
