Kenya has been recognized as the country where people spend the most time on social media, according to a new report from GWI published by Cable.co.uk.

The report reveals that Kenyans spend an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes each day using social media platforms.

This is much longer than the global average, which is only 2 hours and 23 minutes per day.

In this ranking, Kenya is ahead of several other countries. For example, South Africa ranks second, with people spending about 3 hours and 37 minutes on social media daily.

Brazil follows closely behind with an average of 3 hours and 34 minutes. Other countries that also have high social media usage include the Philippines (3 hours and 33 minutes), Nigeria (3 hours and 23 minutes), and Colombia (3 hours and 22 minutes).

The report also highlights the significant growth of social media worldwide. In 2023 alone, there were 266 million new social media users globally.

This translates to about 8.4 million new users joining every second. Looking ahead to 2024, it is estimated that people will spend a total of 500 million years on social media platforms combined.

Additionally, the report points out that countries along the western edge of the Persian Gulf have a high number of social media users compared to their population size.

Overall, this report shows how deeply engaged Kenyans are with social media and reflects a growing trend of digital connectivity around the world.
