Kobbie Mainoo, the 19-year-old English-Ghanaian midfielder, has celebrated his major tournament debut for England in the 2024 European Championships, describing it as a dream start.
Mainoo made his competitive bow for the Three Lions in the 86th minute, replacing Jude Bellingham, the hero of England’s 1-0 win over Serbia.

Taking to social media, Mainoo expressed his joy at finally featuring in a major tournament, stating, “What a way to start the Euros!”
This appearance marked Mainoo’s fourth outing for England and his first in a competitive match, cementing his commitment to the Three Lions.
Prior to this game, Mainoo had played three friendly matches for England, leaving him eligible to represent Ghana if he chose to switch allegiance.
However, by featuring in the European Championships, Mainoo has officially ruled out the possibility of playing for the Black Stars.
Mainoo’s debut in the European Championships signifies a significant milestone in his young career, solidifying his position in the England squad.
His inclusion in the team highlights the trust and faith the coaches have in his abilities, and his performance is expected to be a significant factor in England’s campaign in the tournament.
