A battery from a tipper truck, part of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), has been stolen by unknown individuals in Konongo, located within the Asante Akim Central Municipality.

The DRIP equipment was parked at the premises of the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly while authorities awaited the completion of training for the machine operators.
On Thursday, during a routine check, officials were shocked to discover that the tipper truck’s battery was missing. The incident has been reported to the police.
Robert Yaw Kwaakye, the Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Akim Central, condemned the theft, expressing concerns that such actions could hinder the government’s development efforts.
He also noted that the Assembly would intensify surveillance to protect the equipment.
The Konongo police have since launched an investigation into the theft.
