Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi has expressed his excitement after receiving his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars, describing the opportunity as a dream come true.

Antwi is part of Ghana’s 25-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Antwi joined Asante Kotoko in July from Accra Great Olympics, following their relegation at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Since making the move to Kotoko, he has become an integral part of the team, contributing significantly to their strong start to the 2024/25 season, with Kotoko currently sitting third on the league table.

Despite interest from various clubs during the summer transfer window, Antwi believes that his decision to join Kotoko has been key to earning his call-up to the national team.

“I’ve been waiting for this chance for a long time, and it feels like a dream come true. It shows I made the right choice by joining Asante Kotoko,” he said in an interview with the club’s media.

Antwi is one of three local players called up, along with Isaac Afful of Samartex and Razak Simpson of Nations FC.

The Black Stars will face Angola on November 15 and Niger on November 18.
