Asante Kotoko secured a vital victory over Nsoatreman FC in an impressive Ghana Premier League match at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, propelling the Porcupine Warriors to second place in the league standings.
The match, originally scheduled for matchday two, was postponed due to Nsoatreman’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eliminated by CS Constantine.

After a cautious first half, the game came to life early in the second half. Just two minutes after the break, Nsoatreman defender Issahaka Mohammed inadvertently headed a cross from Dauda Saaka into his own net, giving Kotoko the lead.
The Porcupines had an opportunity to extend their advantage through midfielder Fernando Bassey, but his shot hit the side netting after a well-executed one-two with Emmanuel Antwi.
Nsoatreman’s situation worsened when Daniel Moo received a second yellow card in the 79th minute, leaving the visitors with only 10 men.
This victory marked Kotoko’s first home win of the season, maintaining their unbeaten record under coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
They will next take on Accra Lions on Saturday, aiming to build on their strong start to the campaign after finishing a disappointing sixth last season.
Meanwhile, Nsoatreman will seek to rebound in their upcoming match against Legon Cities.
