Asante Kotoko has moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League standings following a crucial 1-0 victory against Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

Building on their midweek triumph over Nsotreman in an impressive Week 2 fixture, the Porcupine Warriors extended their winning streak with a decisive goal from Albert Amoah early in the second half. In the 48th minute, Amoah found the net, finishing off a well-placed cross from Dauda Saaka.
The match showcased Kotoko’s dominance as they created multiple opportunities and registered four shots on target. Conversely, Accra Lions struggled to threaten Kotoko’s defense, managing only two attempts on goal throughout the match.
Despite the narrow scoreline, Kotoko’s control of the game was clear, with their solid defense securing a clean sheet.
With this victory, Kotoko sits at the top of the league table, level on points with Bibiani Gold Stars but leading on goal difference. Former champions Medeama closely trail with 10 points.
Next, the Porcupine Warriors will prepare to face Legon Cities, aiming to maintain their top position.
Meanwhile, Accra Lions will look to recover in their upcoming match against Berekum Chelsea after a tough start to the season.
