The Electoral Commission (EC) office in Krachi East District, Oti Region, has registered 603 new voters during a recent mop-up registration exercise.

The three-day event saw a large turnout of eligible voters across the Municipality.

Mr. Kafui Klutse, the Krachi East Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, described the process as smooth and peaceful.

Mr. Yahya Gambo, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) representative at the EC office, expressed surprise at the high turnout.

Similarly, Mr. Richard Sarfo Braima Katanka, a representative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), noted that he was initially surprised by the number of registrants, as he had thought the major registration drive had already covered most people.

Political party agents have expressed satisfaction with the process, noting that their targets were met.

The registration numbers were 142 on Thursday, August 1; 152 on Friday, August 2; and 309 on Saturday, August 3, bringing the total to 603 new voters.
