Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahiru Hammond, has suggested that he may stage a political comeback to reclaim the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.
Speaking to journalists after the Obuasi High Court dismissed his petition challenging the election of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Godwin Dorani, Hammond maintained that the NDC’s victory in Adansi Asokwa was not earned “on merit but by default.”
“I am not completely in retirement. I had to return to my law books to sharpen a few things. But I am not in retirement, if that is what you think. In any event, as I said, watch this space,” he remarked.
Hammond alleged that the 2024 parliamentary election in Adansi Asokwa was riddled with irregularities, including reports of ballot boxes being discovered at unauthorized locations such as the Lomito Clinic. He also recounted how some ballot materials were mishandled, describing the process as “a lot of mess beyond description.”
He further suggested that apathy among some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters contributed to the NDC’s win, stressing that internal divisions within the party weakened its chances.
Despite the setback, Hammond signaled he is preparing for a possible return, assuring constituents and observers that “the story of Adansi Asokwa is not over yet.”
