Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to take decisive leadership in resolving the ongoing parliamentary impasse.

The tension arose following Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant.
Although the Supreme Court stayed the execution of this ruling, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus argued that it made them the majority, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus strongly disagreed.
In a recent interview with Asempa FM, Kufuor expressed his concern about the current situation, describing it as “embarrassing” and warning that it could damage Bagbin’s respected legacy.
He urged the Speaker to resolve the impasse for the good of the Parliament and the country.
“I will plead with him; he has the solution. With only about a month left in this parliamentary session, you have served well. Parliament is in a mess, and if you’re not careful, it could affect your record.
“Speaker, let things return to how they used to be for Ghana’s sake so that the eighth Parliament can conclude successfully. You are the leader, so take responsibility and ensure that the impasse ends for the good of Ghana,” he said.
