Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, a prominent businesswoman and owner of Labianca Company Limited, a leading frozen food importer in West Africa, has passed away.

Her death, which followed a brief illness, has sent shockwaves through the Ahanta land and beyond.

A native of Nzema, Eunice Buah was also a member of the Council of State, representing the Western Region.

Her passing has been met with widespread condolences, acknowledging her significant contributions to the business community and her role as a financier of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Eunice Buah’s legacy, however, was not without controversy.

She had faced corruption-related allegations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which accused her of using her position to secure favorable tax treatment for her business.

The OSP’s report had implicated her and several Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) officials, including Col. Kwadwo Damoah and Deputy Commissioner of Customs Joseph Adu Kyei.

However, in a significant turn of events, the High Court in Accra quashed portions of the OSP’s report, finding no wrongdoing by the two individuals.

The court also ordered the OSP to pay GHC10,000 in costs, marking a notable development in the case.

Despite this, Eunice Buah’s passing has left a lasting impact on the business community and beyond.
