The National Labour Commission (NLC) has ordered the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) to immediately stop its ongoing strike.
This directive, issued on October 23, 2024, came after discussions at the NLC headquarters between the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the PSWU.

The NLC intervened after the PSWU issued a strike notice on October 14, 2024, due to unresolved negotiations regarding two institution-specific allowances for its members.
Initially planned for October 21, the strike prompted the NLC to step in, calling on representatives from the FWSC, Ministry of Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions (MELRP), and the Ministry of Finance to mediate.
In addition to pausing the strike, the NLC instructed both parties to meet again by October 31 to resume talks and report the outcome by November 6.
The commission emphasized that all parties should negotiate “in good faith” to achieve a fair resolution.
Prof. Charles Adabo Oppong, FWSC’s Director of Grievances and Negotiations, supported the NLC’s directive, affirming the FWSC’s commitment to mutually acceptable solutions to the PSWU’s demands.
