Lawmaker Andy Appiah-Kubi of the Asante Akim-North Constituency has expressed faith in Attorney-General Godfred Dame’s ability to prioritize justice and recuse himself from the ambulance purchase trial.
Despite the trial judge’s advice to step aside, Dame has refused to confirm whether he will heed the recommendation.

The judge, Justice Efia Serwah Asare-Botwey, urged Dame to recuse himself to maintain public trust and ensure a fair trial, citing potential conflicts of interest.
However, Dame has indicated that he will continue to prosecute the case, despite potential conflicts of interest.
Appiah-Kubi argues that Dame’s dual role as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice creates a conflict of interest, and he should have recused himself from the start. “As the Minister of Justice, you shouldn’t be the judge in your own court,” he emphasized, highlighting the need for impartiality in the trial.
The lawmaker praised the trial judge’s advice, stating that it demonstrates her commitment to upholding justice and ensuring a fair trial.
He expressed concern that Dame’s continued involvement in the case could undermine public trust in the judicial system.
Appiah-Kubi’s comments come as the trial continues, with many watching closely to see if Dame will heed the judge’s advice and recuse himself.
