Lawyer Martin Kpebu has urged Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Godfred Dame to step down, citing the need to protect the integrity of the Office of the Attorney-General and the judiciary.

In an interview with Joy FM, Kpebu emphasized that Dame’s continued tenure is fueling controversy and tarnishing the reputation of the Office of the Attorney-General.

Kpebu argued that both the Deputy Attorney-General and the Attorney-General should resign to restore public trust and confidence in the system.

“The longer they remain in office, the more they compromise the judiciary, the government, and the nation as a whole,” he said. “A swift resignation would send a strong message that steps are being taken to address the issue and restore confidence.”

Kpebu expressed disappointment with Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah for defending Dame’s decision to stay in office despite mounting calls for his resignation.

The call for resignation comes after the release of an audio recording by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which appears to capture Dame discussing a strategy to influence testimony in a high-profile financial crime case involving former Deputy Finance Minister and current Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
