Lawyer Martin Kpebu has made a startling revelation, claiming that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attempted to oust Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng months ago.

According to Kpebu, this move was triggered by a petition submitted by former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu, seeking Agyebeng’s removal.

Kpebu disclosed that his sources within the Office of the President revealed that Agyebeng refused to resign when asked to do so by the President.

“My sources at the presidency informed me that President Akufo-Addo requested Kissi Agyebeng’s resignation, but Kissi declined, stating he wouldn’t budge,” Kpebu said.

He further alleged that the President’s motivation for removing Agyebeng stems from fear of potential investigations into his own actions and those of his appointees.

“Akufo-Addo is apprehensive that if Kissi Agyebeng remains in office, he may investigate him and his associates, given Kissi’s demonstrated independence and zeal,” Kpebu added.

This development follows the President’s forwarding of a petition to the Chief Justice, seeking Agyebeng’s removal.

The petition, presented by Martin Amidu, cites procurement irregularities, misconduct involving judges, and breaches of citizens’ rights, among other allegations.

The Chief Justice is currently evaluating the petition to determine if there is sufficient evidence to initiate impeachment proceedings against Agyebeng.
