The Ghana Police Service is taking legal action against three individuals involved in the circulation of a private video featuring broadcast journalist Serwaa Amihere.

Identified as Edem Saviour Ketti, Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, and Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz, the trio faces charges related to sexual extortion and dissemination of private visual content.

The charges include conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, as outlined in Section 23 (1) of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960, and sexual extortion under Section 66(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020.

The incident came to light after a video of Serwaa Amihere in bed with a man, identified as Henry Fitz, circulated widely on social media platforms.

At first, there were speculations that the video was recorded before the man got married in 2019.

The situation started when someone contacted Serwaa Amihere’s makeup artist, asking them to pass on a message to Serwaa Amihere.

The message demanded GHC5,000 to prevent the spread of explicit photos. The threats then increased, with an unknown person later demanding a larger sum of GHC20,000.

After Serwaa Amihere agreed to the initial demand, the perpetrators still published the video. Subsequently, Amihere reported the incident to the authorities, resulting in the arrest of Edem Saviour Ketti.

Efforts are ongoing to capture Henry Fitz, who is currently evading arrest as investigations proceed.
