Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has called on Members of Parliament (MPs) to conclude the 8th parliamentary term on a high note, highlighting the need for unity and dedication in their service to the nation.

Speaking during the opening session of Parliament on Monday, December 16, following the 2024 general elections, Bagbin reminded MPs of their responsibility as leaders to uphold Ghana’s democratic principles.

“Honourable Members, let us end this Parliament on a good note. It is essential as leaders for us to act to preserve the gains of our democracy,” he stated.

The Speaker further emphasized the importance of MPs fulfilling their duty to serve the people of Ghana diligently until the end of their term.

The Speaker also stressed the MPs’ ongoing duty to serve the people of Ghana until the very end of the term.

“In summary, I emphasise our sacred mandate to serve the people of Ghana. This mandate remains active until the end of this parliamentary term, and nobody should forget that,” he added.

Speaker Bagbin’s remarks come as the 8th Parliament approaches its final days, with members expected to address crucial legislative matters before the transition to the 9th Parliament.
