Liverpool snapped a five-game winless streak in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur to keep their title hopes alive.

The win puts the defending champions in fourth place behind Manchester City, Manchester United, and Leicester City. Spurs remain level with Everton on points for sixth place, both trailing West Ham United.

It didn’t seem to be in the cards for Spurs on the evening as VAR overruled an early would-be goal from Son Heung-Min by the slightest of margins.

Liverpool took over possession and got their first goal moments before halftime when Sadio Mane found Roberto Firmino for a tap-in across Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.

Lloris was caught out of position again minutes after the break when he knocked Mane’s effort into the crosshairs of Trent Alexander-Arnold for a driving shot into the net.

Spurs regained some hope when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg pulled one back in the 49th minute but Mane sealed the match in the 65th minute when he sent the ball into the ceiling of Lloris’ net.

Harry Kane was substituted at halftime for Erik Lamela after he appeared to suffer an ankle injury.
