The upcoming elections in Ghana have sparked intense debate about the ideal running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Amidst this backdrop, the Legon Lecturers and Professionals for Ken (LLPK) have endorsed Kennedy Agyapong as the perfect candidate for the position.
The LLPK’s recommendation is based on nine key factors, including Agyapong’s nationwide recognition, ability to mobilize disheartened supporters, and proven track record of creating jobs.

The group believes that Agyapong’s inclusion on the ticket would attract undecided voters and unemployed youth, bolstering the NPP’s electoral prospects.
Additionally, Agyapong’s strong grassroots connection, business acumen, and experience in grassroots mobilization and entrepreneurship make him an attractive choice.
His extensive nationwide tours during the 2023 presidential primaries have made him a recognizable figure, making him easily marketable within the NPP.
Moreover, his ability to energize and mobilize disheartened supporters could prove crucial in galvanizing the party’s base.
Agyapong’s impressive track record of creating over 7,000 jobs in the country makes him an attractive choice for unemployed youth and those yet to graduate, a critical demographic in the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, his tough yet approachable personality, combined with his strong grassroots connection and business acumen, resonates well with the middle class.
The combination of Dr. Bawumia’s economic expertise and Agyapong’s entrepreneurial experience would enhance their ability to lead and potentially secure victory.
As Vice President and Chairman of the Economic Management team, Agyapong would leverage his entrepreneurial experience to contribute significantly to economic policies.
His ideas, which garnered substantial support during the party’s primaries, combined with Dr. Bawumia’s vision, offer a promising direction for Ghana amid current global financial challenges.
Pairing Kennedy with Dr. Bawumia could also help address regional concerns, particularly in maintaining peace and stability in the Bawku enclave of northern Ghana.
Lastly, Agyapong’s effective communication skills, showcased through his platforms like Net 2 TV and Oman FM, would be a valuable asset to the party’s campaign.
This endorsement comes as a survey conducted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) suggests that Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the preferred choice of running mate for Dr. Bawumia, followed by Minister of Education Yaw Osei Adutwum.
However, the LLPK believes that Agyapong’s unique qualities make him the ideal candidate for the position.
