About Osibisa

Osibisa was an Afro-pop band founded by Ghanaian expats in London in the late 1960s, that took the world by storm with their fusions of Western, African and Caribbean styles. “Welcome Home”, was written by Mac Tontoh, Teddy Osei and Sol Amarfio and released as the title track of their ‘75 album, along with another hit: Sunshine Day.

“Welcome Home” has become somewhat of a staple of Ghanaian music, and enjoys popularity due to the universal appeal of its lyrics. The song reflects on the journey “back home”, a theme of return familiar to many Ghanaians, who see their country as a place of welcome for African returnees.
