Former President and Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of neglecting the development needs of communities in the Central Region of Ghana.

Mahama, who has visited fourteen constituencies in the Central Region as part of his campaign tour, expressed deep concern over the lack of infrastructure and development in these communities.
He condemned the government’s failure to address the pressing needs of the region, attributing the neglect to partisan political motives.
According to Mahama, the government is deliberately overlooking the region’s development because the NDC has significant support in these constituencies, and the residents have consistently voted for NDC parliamentary candidates.
In a post on his Facebook page, Mahama lamented the condition of the communities, especially in places like Ekumfi, Brakwa, and Ajumako Besease, where chiefs and local residents voiced their frustrations over the lack of progress.
He emphasized that the failure to provide critical services such as healthcare, education, and employment opportunities was undermining the potential of young people and families in the region.
“It is heartbreaking to witness our beloved communities struggling due to the neglect of vital development projects. These are not just statistics, they are people, families, and children who deserve better access to infrastructure, healthcare, education, and opportunities to secure a better future,” Mahama wrote.
“How can a government that is supposed to serve the people ignore the needs of its citizens? Why punish communities for their democratic choices in voting for the NDC and electing its parliamentary candidates?”
Mahama further questioned the moral compass of a government that selectively prioritizes development based on political loyalty.
He argued that good governance should not be determined by party affiliation, but by the equitable distribution of resources and services to all Ghanaians.
“This is not just about politics; it is a matter of justice and accountability. Every citizen, regardless of their political views, deserves a government that listens to their needs and acts in their best interests.”

The NDC candidate reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no community is left behind if he is re-elected as President. He stressed that development under his leadership would be a right for all, not a privilege for a select few.
“As I did during my previous administration, and as I will do again when given the mandate, development will be for all Ghanaians, and no community will be excluded.
My government, alongside Naana Jane, will ensure that the needs of our people are met, and we will foster sustainable growth in every region of the country.”
In closing, Mahama promised to address the concerns raised by the chiefs and people of the Central Region, ensuring that every community enjoys the benefits of progress and prosperity.
“Together, we will build a better Ghana, where development is inclusive, and no one is left behind.”
