President-elect John Dramani Mahama recently visited Kenyan President William Ruto to engage in discussions on regional integration, continental security, and boosting trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Mahama expressed his gratitude for Ruto’s longstanding support and extended an invitation to his inauguration on January 7.

In a Facebook post following the meeting on Sunday, December 29, Mahama emphasized the importance of collective efforts to enhance the benefits of AfCFTA, stating, “As a former Chair of the AU High-Level Committee on Trade, I remain committed to expanding trade among our countries under the AfCFTA. We shall strengthen relations between Kenya and Ghana.”
President Ruto echoed Mahama’s sentiments, highlighting his commitment to deepening ties between Kenya and Ghana, with a focus on areas like trade, investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, and oil and gas.
He emphasized that this initiative would create greater opportunities for the citizens of both nations and promote mutual prosperity.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Mahama for endorsing Hon. Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the position of chairperson of the African Union Commission. President Ruto also confirmed his intention to be present at the swearing-in ceremony.
