President John Dramani Mahama has called for an immediate and thorough interrogation of Daniel Owusu Koranteng, the suspect arrested in connection with the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
Speaking during a courtesy call by Ghana Bar Association leader Efua Ghartey on March 26, 2025, Mahama emphasized the need for a meticulous probe that could lead to further arrests and bring closure to the case.
“A swift and thorough interrogation of the suspect is crucial to ensuring justice for Ahmed Suale. This case must not remain unresolved,” he stated.
Suale, a key member of the Tiger Eye PI investigative team, was assassinated in 2019. His murder remains a major concern for press freedom advocates.
President Mahama also urged authorities to expedite the prosecution of those responsible for the killing of former MP JB Danquah, reaffirming his commitment to upholding justice and human rights.
“Investigations into significant killings and murders that have remained uninvestigated. I have urged the police and the investigation organisations to look more actively into such cases, like that of Ahmed Suale.
“That is why a first suspect has been arrested, and we are hoping that his interrogation will lead to further arrests of people. There are several other cases like the JB Danquah case. We are asking that they be expedited in terms of prosecution and investigations,” he stated.
