Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on constituencies and regions to submit lists of volunteers with at least a first degree to serve as polling agents in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

Trained master trainers are ready to train polling agents nationwide, ensuring careful monitoring of polling activities.

Speaking at the Upper East Regional NDC Fundraising Dinner on June 22, 2024, Mahama commended the region’s performance in the Limited Voter Registration Exercise, which he closely monitored.

He pledged continued vigilance throughout the elections and urged sustained participation in the campaign, emphasizing a continuous “rolling campaign” approach.

Mahama clarified that MPs typically focus on their constituencies rather than serving on national campaign teams, though they may participate in regional campaigns.

He stressed the need to create opportunities in the North to curb migration to the South, leveraging agricultural strengths in crops like rice, sorghum, and soybeans.

He proposed establishing farmer service centers and agro-processing factories in each district and region.

Mahama criticized President Akufo-Addo’s unfulfilled promises, including the Pwalugu multipurpose dam and $1 million per constituency pledge.

He committed to continuing rural electrification, developing a “northern ring road” for easy travel across the northern regions, and completing the eastern and western corridor roads.

Mahama framed the December 7 elections as a contest between the people of Ghana and the NPP, highlighting economic hardships and the need for accountability.

He vowed to hold corrupt officials accountable and recover misappropriated state lands.
