John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership for prioritizing campaign promises over economic recovery.
He argued that the government’s focus should be on addressing the current economic challenges rather than making unfounded claims.

Mahama made these remarks during a mini durbar with the Chiefs and Elders of La-Bawuleshie and Mempeasem in the Ayawaso West Constituency.
He expressed disbelief that the government claims to be the best despite the economic crisis, citing the running mate’s assertion that Akufo-Addo’s achievements surpass those of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Mahama emphasized that the government has the opportunity to take urgent measures to alleviate the economic situation in the remaining five months before the election.
Instead of making promises, they should implement solutions now, such as rationalizing taxes.
Mahama cautioned that the government’s approach is unrealistic and that they cannot repeat the same tactics they used in 2016.
He urged the NPP government to shift its focus from campaigning to addressing the nation’s economic woes, emphasizing that the time for implementation is now, not after the election.
