Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has raised questions about the intentions of National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama regarding his re-election campaign for the 2024 elections.

While participating in a campaign event in the Ashanti Region on Monday, November 4, alongside NPP candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Apraku criticized Mahama’s decision to run for another term.
He contended that Mahama’s previous time in office did not yield satisfactory results and challenged him to clarify what new contributions he could bring to Ghana if re-elected.
Dr. Apraku remarked, “Recently, someone noted that Mr. Mahama has held nearly every political position in Ghana, including the presidency. People witnessed the work he did while in office, and they chose to vote him out. What has he left behind at the castle or Jubilee House that makes him so eager to return?”
He further questioned, “What positive changes can Mahama make for this country that he didn’t achieve during his time as Vice President and President? Now, he wants another chance to lead. To do what?”
He emphasized, “What can he accomplish now that he couldn’t during his previous opportunities? In a democracy, the people hold the power. If they grant you that power and later take it back due to a failure to deliver, you cannot simply ask for it back.”
During their campaign, the team visited Toase and Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabeagya South constituency, where they were met with large crowds. The first day of their tour concluded with a visit to the Atwima Nwabeagya North constituency.
