The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to working with traditional leaders to promote Ghanaian festivals as part of his broader strategy to boost local economies, enhance cultural tourism, and showcase the country’s rich heritage globally.

Mahama made these remarks during a visit to the Ga Mantse’s palace on Thursday, November 28, 2024, as part of his tour of the Greater Accra region ahead of the December 7 general elections.
His meeting with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the Ga Traditional Council highlighted the importance of cultural celebrations in fostering unity and promoting national pride.

Mahama emphasized that by collaborating with traditional authorities, his administration would work to ensure the continued success of festivals, recognizing their potential to drive tourism and create economic opportunities for local communities.
Mahama expressed his gratitude for the warm and colourful welcome he received from the Ga Mantse, chiefs, queen mothers, and other dignitaries present at the palace.

Taking to his Facebook page to share the experience, Mahama reflected on the role and impact of traditional rulers in Ghanaian society.
He also highlighted the importance of festivals as not merely cultural celebrations but also as economic opportunities that can drive growth in local communities.
The NDC’s flagbearer further pledged to work closely with chiefs and other traditional authorities to ensure these festivals receive the visibility and support they need to make a meaningful impact.
