John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to revamp the Tumu Cotton Generics facility in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region.

Speaking at a durbar with local chiefs and party supporters on October 13, 2024, Mahama stated that the once-thriving cotton industry would undergo significant improvements.

He emphasized that once revitalized, the facility would be managed by a private entity to enhance its operational efficiency, ultimately creating more jobs and stimulating economic growth.

During his three-day campaign tour of the region, Mahama highlighted the sector’s potential for transformational development.

The local chief expressed confidence that only the NDC, under Mahama’s leadership, could bring the necessary development to the area.

The chief stated, “We believe that under you, it is possible to develop our area through addressing our needs and aspirations, should you form the next government.”

The community expressed gratitude for the progress made during Mahama’s previous administration and reaffirmed their support for his vision of rural development.
