A poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the December 7 general elections suggests that John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is likely to win the presidential race with 51.1 percent of the anticipated votes.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) follows in second place with 37.3 percent. Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, garnered 6.2 percent, while Alan Kyerematen received 4.1 percent.
According to Global InfoAnalytics’ final field poll, conducted nearly two months before the elections, Mahama maintains a clear lead with 51.1% of the votes. Bawumia stands at 37.3%, followed by Kyerematen at 4.1%, Bediako at 6.2%, and others at 1.3% (weighted committed voters’ model).
The poll also highlighted a significant issue of voter apathy, which could spell trouble for the NPP. It found that 16 percent of respondents, who identified as NPP supporters, indicated they would not participate in the upcoming elections.
The breakdown shows that 3% are NDC supporters, 38% are floating voters, 4% belong to other parties, and 39% declined to disclose their party affiliations. Overall, 4.4% of respondents stated they would not vote.
Cheddar’s performance in the poll shows a notable increase, moving from 3.8 percent to 6.7 percent in the Ashanti region. He also experienced a 3.4 percent improvement in the Eastern region, rising from 9.8 percent to 13.2 percent between July and October 2024.
