President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in Patience Baffoe-Bonnie as the new Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, ushering in a significant leadership transition within the country’s security services.

This appointment is part of a wider restructuring effort, which also involves leadership changes at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
However, the swearing-in ceremonies for Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, the acting Chief Fire Officer of the GNFS, and Samuel Basentale Amadu, the acting Comptroller-General of the GIS, have been postponed.
President Mahama explained that the delay in their swearing-in is due to procedural differences in the appointment processes of the respective services.
Their official inductions will take place once their service boards are fully constituted and their appointments are confirmed.
The restructuring aims to enhance efficiency and strengthen leadership across Ghana’s key security institutions.
