Dr. Samuel Sarpong, National First Vice Chairman of the NDC, has assured that President-elect John Dramani Mahama will adhere to the Asantehene’s blueprint for the development of Asanteman.

Dr. Sarpong praised the Asantehene for his valuable counsel and support leading up to the December 7 elections. Speaking through the Asantehene’s linguist on December 8, following the NDC’s historic electoral victory, Dr. Sarpong, on behalf of the President-elect, expressed gratitude for Otumfuo’s guidance and blessings, which he believes contributed significantly to the NDC’s success.

He emphasized that the NDC is grateful for the Asantehene’s insightful advice and will continue to seek his counsel in the future.

“Otumfuo, I stand here on behalf of the President-elect to thank you immensely for your guidance and advice to the NDC party and I know it was the reason we have recorded the biggest political victory in Ghana and we promise to always come around for such to govern Ghana well”, the NDC Vice Chairperson said.

Also present at the Akwasidae ceremony were Andy Okrah, a former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister and Kwasi Ofori Agyemang Boadi, a former MCE for Obuasi as well as Appiah Stadium, an ardent John Mahama admirer.

There were other NDC functionaries at the event which marks the end of all the Akwasidaes or Adae’s in the Asante calendar.

On behalf of the Otumfuo, the linguist thanked the NDC Vice Chairperson for paying homage to the Asantehene.

He also commended Dr Sarpong for presenting gifts to the King on the celebration of the last Akwasidae.
