The Majority in Parliament has announced its plans to restructure and unveil new leadership on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

This development comes in response to calls from the Minority Caucus urging the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reorganize the leadership of the Majority Caucus to enhance legislative efficiency.

The decision follows the approval of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Majority Leader, as Minister for Finance, and Governs Agbodza, the Majority Chief Whip, as Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways.

Expressing concern on the floor of Parliament, Matthew Nyindam, Member of Parliament for Kpandai, described the current state of the House as akin to “a sheep without a shepherd,” emphasizing the urgency of establishing clear leadership within the Majority Caucus.

“We are confused about who is leading government business in the House. They should tell us who is leading us in this House because business must progress. We are here and ready to support them, but we don’t know our leader. We are all concerned. We cannot run this House like that. Go and enjoy your ministerial role—Minister for Roads or Finance—but the black seat is empty. We want to help government business to run, but as we sit now, we are confused,” he stated.

Responding to the concerns, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson reassured the House that the Majority Caucus would designate its front bench by the following day.

“I am still the leader of the House, and I have not been sworn in as the Minister of Finance. God willing, tomorrow, the NDC Caucus will designate our front bench,” he affirmed.
