Police in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region have arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a family member in both eyes with a pair of scissors during a domestic dispute in Sefwi Abrokofe.

The suspect, identified as William Gyamfi, also known as Kwasi Manso, is alleged to have attacked the victim, Akua Agyeiwaa, believed to be in her early 50s, following a misunderstanding between them.

The attack left the woman critically injured, and she was immediately transferred to the Juaboso Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

After receiving a report of the incident, police deployed a patrol team to the community to apprehend the suspect, who was reportedly assaulted by some residents.

At the time of his arrest, Gyamfi sustained visible injuries, including a swollen left eye and forehead, and bleeding on his left leg. He was treated at the Juaboso Government Hospital and later discharged.

Police confirmed that William Gyamfi is currently in custody and assisting with investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, some community members claim that the suspect has a history of violent behaviour, including a previous cutlass attack on his brother-in-law. Residents are calling on police to conduct thorough investigations and prosecute the suspect to serve as a deterrent.
