Abel Dzidotor was apprehended by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly being responsible for the mishap that happened on April 18, during a trial operation of a recently brought in train from Poland.
Initial inquiries by the police indicated that Dzidotor deserted the Hyundai truck, registered as GS 9018 – 20, on the railway track, resulting in a clash with the train.

After the recent train accident on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line involving a newly-imported train, Abel Dzidotor has been sentenced to a six-month jail term with hard labor.
The report from citinewsroom.com stated that Dzidotor confessed to three of the four charges against him, including inconsiderate driving, unauthorized stopping, and causing unlawful damage.
Dzidotor challenged the fourth accusation, asserting that his driver’s license was inside the vehicle that sustained damage.
He was directed to submit the license to the court before May 9, 2024, to avert possible repercussions.
Abel Dzidotor admitted to careless and inconsiderate driving, unauthorized stopping, and causing unlawful damage. This led to a sentence of 100 penalty units, 20 penalty units, and a six-month jail term.
The accident occurred while Dzidotor was delivering cement blocks. The truck became stuck on the rail when he couldn’t navigate a pass-through under the bridge.
