Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has announced that he will determine his future with the club after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Although he signed a one-year contract extension in March 2023, extending his stay at City until 2028, speculation about a possible departure continues.
“I am focused here [at the Olympics] because it is a short tournament,” Alvarez said ahead of Argentina’s match against Ukraine.
“At Manchester City, I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.”
Alvarez was a substitute during Manchester City’s FA Cup final loss to Manchester United in May and has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
While he has expressed frustration at not featuring in key matches, he remains optimistic about his overall season.
City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged Alvarez’s thoughts about his future, emphasizing that many players want to feature in important games.
“I know he wants to play in important moments, but the other players want that too,” Guardiola said.
“We have 18 or 19 players who want to play in the important games. I read he has to think about it, so OK, think about it and after that he will inform us what he wants to do.”
Alvarez, 24, is set to make his third start for Argentina in the Olympics against Ukraine on Tuesday, with the men’s gold medal match scheduled for August 9.
