Manchester United has appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager, currently with Sporting Lisbon, will join United on November 11, signing a contract that runs until June 2027.

Amorim is United’s sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who stepped in as interim manager after Erik ten Hag’s departure, will continue leading the team for the next three matches.
Manchester United has agreed to pay €11 million (£9.25 million) to activate Amorim’s release clause.
His debut match as head coach will be on November 24 against Ipswich in the Premier League, followed by a Europa League home game on November 28 against Bodo/Glimt and a league fixture against Everton.
Sporting confirmed that Amorim, known as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches, will manage his final games for the club, including Champions League action against Manchester City and a league match against Braga.
Amorim has recently led Sporting through a 14-game unbeaten run after a Portuguese Super Cup loss to Porto in August.
Amorim brings a reputation for impressive achievements, including leading Braga to a historic win over Benfica and a Taca da Liga cup final victory against Porto.
