Mbuso Mandela, the grandson of the late Nelson Mandela, was released after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed there was insufficient evidence to charge him in connection with a stolen car found at the former president’s Houghton residence.

While the NPA continues to investigate any possible link between Mandela and the crime, the case has not progressed against him.

Mandela was arrested after the stolen vehicle was discovered at the iconic property, but following a review, the NPA stated that they could not proceed with charges due to lack of evidence. He was seen walking out of Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court after the court proceedings.

Meanwhile, four other suspects involved in the case appeared before Magistrate Johan Herman. The investigation into the stolen car is ongoing.

They face three charges, with an identity parade expected to be concluded over the weekend.

The case against the four has been postponed to next Friday.
