Former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to take legal action if he believes Amidu’s recent article defames him.

This dare comes amid a heated controversy sparked by Amidu’s corruption allegations against the Speaker, including misuse of public funds for medical treatments abroad.

Instead of apologizing, Amidu has doubled down, insisting on the truthfulness of his claims and inviting Bagbin to defend his integrity in court.

“If you think my article defames you, defend your honor and integrity by taking legal action against me,” Amidu said, expressing his readiness to use the courtroom to expose what he describes as Bagbin’s misuse of public funds.

Amidu criticized the Speaker’s expenditure on foreign medical trips, highlighting the disparity between the Speaker’s access to healthcare and the struggles of ordinary Ghanaians.

“The millions spent on your medical trips to Dubai could have purchased hundreds of dialysis machines for treating thousands of needy Ghanaians,” he pointed out.

Addressing Bagbin directly, Amidu asserted that he would not be intimidated by political maneuvers. “I won’t be frightened by your friends and allies, including Asiedu Nketiah, John Mahama, Kissi Agyebeng, and Joy FM, from defending the 1992 Constitution,” Amidu declared.
