American rapper Meek Mill has announced that he will return to Ghana for the festive season in December 2024.

He shared this news on his X account but did not specify the duration of his stay or his exact arrival date.

In his announcement, the Dreams and Nightmares rapper stated that he is eager to visit the historic slave castles in Cape Coast to learn more about the transatlantic slave trade.

In March 2024, Meek Mill expressed his interest in obtaining Ghanaian citizenship, citing the systemic oppression faced by Black people in America.

He tweeted about his desire, saying, “I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!!! America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders!”

In December 2022, Meek Mill performed at Afro Nation and has since conveyed his admiration and affection for Ghana, marking his first visit to the country.

During that visit, he met with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House, where he also filmed segments for a music video, a decision that sparked public criticism over the portrayal of the government’s seat.
