During a protest against police brutality and racism in Los Angeles on Saturday, Michael B. Jordan called on Hollywood to “commit to black hiring.”

While speaking to the crowd at a protest in Century City, the actor called on studios and agencies to push black content, hire black executives, work with black consultants and make long term changes to the hiring practices in Hollywood. Jordan advised the crowd that the effort needs to continue beyond the protests and to keep applying pressure.

You committed to 50/50 gender parity in 2020, where is the commitment to black hiring,” Jordan challenged. “Are you policing our storytelling as well? Let us bring our darkness to the light.”

Towards the end of his speech, Jordan also called on people to hit the polls and vote. “Voting has never been more important than it is today, but first, that’s when we vote.”

Jordan has been front and center during the protests that have erupted in Los Angeles in the wake of the death of George Floyd by a former Minneapolis police officer on May 25.
