John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for a more organized approach to the migration of professionals.

During a town hall meeting in Accra on Monday, August 12, the former President expressed concerns about the current trend of professionals leaving Ghana due to economic challenges, noting that the process is unstructured and inefficient.
He stated that while migration can be positive, it should be managed to benefit both individuals and the country.
Mahama suggested that the government should work with countries needing skilled workers on short-term programs.
This would allow Ghanaians to gain new skills and experiences that could be valuable when they return home.
His vision is to create a system where professional migration is a strategic benefit rather than just a reaction to economic conditions.
