President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo emphasized that mining has long been an integral part of Ghana’s history, dating back to ancient times when the country was renowned for its vast gold resources.

In his remarks, he acknowledged the profound influence of mining on Ghana’s identity and its people.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Cardinal Namdini Gold Mine in Talensi, Upper East Region, on Friday, November 8, Akufo-Addo expressed his hope that the wealth generated from mining would benefit all regions, particularly the north.

He stated, “Mining has always been part of Ghana’s history. But I have always felt that more of this wealth should reach the north, where so many hardworking men and women deserve equal opportunities.”

The president highlighted that the development of the Cardinal Namdini Gold Mine marks a significant milestone in the region’s mining industry, symbolizing a new chapter where northern Ghana can emerge as a key player in the sector.

This project, according to Akufo-Addo, will not only bring economic growth and job opportunities to Talensi but will also create a ripple effect across northern Ghana.

Akufo-Addo reiterated that the country’s mineral wealth belongs to all Ghanaians and emphasized the importance of harnessing the untapped potential in every region.

He also shared plans to improve infrastructure, such as roads and utilities, and even build an airport in Bolgatanga to support long-term development.

The Cardinal Namdini Gold Mine, owned by Shandong Gold Group, is committed to maintaining high environmental standards while investing in the community.

Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that such investments would bring lasting change to the people of Talensi.

In his closing remarks, the president said, “This day reminds us of the power of unity and vision. As we pour this first gold, let it symbolize hope and resilience for every Ghanaian.

Let’s continue to work together to make Ghana a place where every region, every community, shares in the promise of prosperity.”

The Cardinal Namdini Gold Mine, according to Akufo-Addo, is not just about mining,it’s about fostering growth, dignity, and a brighter future for northern Ghana and the country as a whole.
