Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of information has expressed disappointment over a recent comment belittling the success of the free SHS Program made by former President and current Presidential aspirant John Dramani Mahama.

The Minister while speaking to journalist during the Christmas festivities in Akim Anyinase, criticized Mahama for attempting to undermine the SHS graduates.

It is disheartening to observe how former President Mahama will go to all lengths to belittle the free SHS program because it didn’t emanate from him,” the Minister stated.

Some reports claims that the recently released WASSCE result is considered the best since 2015, which have been linked to the positive impact of the free SHS policy.

Meawhile, the former President during a tour in the country recently, discredited the outcome of the examination sighting malpractice and students conniving with teachers to cheat.

The Ofoase Ayirebi legislator reacting to Mahama’s claims of examination malpractice and cheating has found the accusations as “shocking and disappointing” emphasizing that such remarks disregard the hardwork and accomplishments of the students who benefited from the initiative.

“While he may not like the entire SHS program,he shouldn’t try so hard to denigrate beneficiaries, yes the program may have some challenges, but to say that even the exceptional Success of the students is fake is just amazing” the Minister added.

The Minister has however called for a constructive discussion to improve the free SHS initiative to enhance the educational sector while stressing that ideas will better serve the country rather than attempts to undermine efforts and achievement of beneficiaries.
