Interior Minister is at the mercy of crowds. A video which recently hit the media space shows a well built man being manhandled and beaten up by a group of men
Shoved in an awkward manner to and fro by an apprehensive crowd, the attempt by the unlucky personality to explain himself fell on death ears.
It is reported the man who was assaulted in the mayhem was the Interior minister in Niger’s toppled civilian government.
Information on how he got involved with the men is yet to be acertained.
Earlier, the Finance minister was found in a terrible state of despair. His press conference which was instigated by the military, demanded revelation of state secrets especially financial accountability.
Last week, the government of President Bazzoum was overthrown by the military, an action predicated on what the latter said was the deterioration in conditions in Niger. The soldiers also accused the government of serving foreign interests as opposed to the sovereign will of the people.
Regional bloc ECOWAS has warned the coup makers in Niger it will intervene militarily. The crowd that beat up the former interior minister pin the international riposte on his machinations, in yet another sign that the coup in Niger conjures popular support.
