The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the region’s road network, recognizing its vital role in driving economic activities, trade, and community development.

Following a series of site inspections, Mr. Atanga stressed that road infrastructure remains a top priority for his administration. He promised to ensure the efficient execution of ongoing and planned road projects, working closely with the Minister for Roads and Highways and other relevant agencies to secure funding and support.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by poor road conditions, particularly in rural areas, the minister assured residents that the government is determined to address these issues to enhance livelihoods.
As part of his efforts, Mr. Atanga toured several towns and communities, including Apowongo, Dua, Kantia, Adaboya, Bongo, and Sirigu, where he assessed project progress, interacted with contractors, and engaged local leaders and residents on their concerns.
During his visit, the minister urged contractors working on various road projects in these areas to expedite their execution and ensure they meet completion deadlines.
He underscored the importance of timely project completion, stressing that delays in road construction could significantly impact trade, transportation, and access to essential services, including healthcare and education.
While addressing the media, Mr. Atanga affirmed that both his administration and the government of President John Dramani Mahama remain resolute in their commitment to bringing much-needed development to the people of the Upper East Region.

“My administration and that of President John Dramani Mahama remains committed to bringing relief to the many Ghanaians who believed in us and voted massively for the NDC and this includes improving road infrastructure across the Upper East Region.
“I will therefore urge all contractors working on projects in the region to expedite their work and meet completion deadlines. Proper road network has many positives including smooth trade and economic facilitation.”
