Radio Ada was attacked by unknown “thugs”, and the Ministry of Information condemned it. They also called for an investigation by the Police.
A statement from the Ministry’s Public Affairs Unit, which was copied to Accra’s Ghana News Agency on Sunday, stated that the actions of the thugs were unjustified and unnecessary.
“It is not justified for a group to attack a radio station or its staff because of comments they have made on air. There are legal and legitimate avenues to seek redress for parties who are upset by media comments.
It called the attack on the media house “totally unacceptable” and reiterated that the perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice.

It stated that “attacks of this nature were totally unacceptable” and that the perpetrators should be identified and taken to court.
According to the statement Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah (Minister for Information) called Radio Ada’s management and staff and requested that the National Media Commission take action.
Radio Ada, a community station in Ada in Greater Accra Region was attacked by unknown people last Thursday at 1130.
The Station was allegedly attacked by ten gun-wielding thugs who beat two station staff over the content one of its flagship programmes.
“…Later they stormed the Station’s studios, assaulted the presenter and vandalised some equipment there,” said Management of the Radio Station.
