Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, has strongly criticized President Akufo-Addo for the severe hardships faced by Ghanaians.
In his address at the start of the parliamentary sitting on Friday, May 17, Dr. Forson emphasized the need for urgent measures to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

He argued that the government’s priority should be addressing the economic crisis, particularly the alarming depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi, which is causing severe economic challenges, including business collapse and rising unemployment.
Dr. Forson, a former Deputy Finance Minister, chastised the President for his new ministerial nominations, stating that the government is already bloated and the suffering masses cannot afford to support such a large administration.
He urged the President to reduce the size of the government to show that he is listening to the citizens’ demands for a leaner government.
However, he asserted that the President has become deaf to the citizens’ calls.
The Minority Leader stressed that the government’s focus should be on stabilizing the economy and addressing the pressing financial concerns of the nation, rather than expanding the government during a critical time.
He emphasized that prudent management of the contributions from the people of Ghana is expected from the government, but instead, the government is characterized by reckless and wasteful expenditure.
Dr. Forson concluded by urging the government to adopt new, creative, and radical ways of confronting challenges, and for the political class to show modesty and sacrifice in the face of Ghana’s current unfortunate situation.
He noted that the country’s challenges require a different approach, and that the government’s current actions are not sufficient to address the suffering of Ghanaians.
