The Minority in Parliament has postponed its second protest, which calls for the removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, and his two deputies.

Initially scheduled for July 30, the protest will now occur on August 13.

In a letter to the police on Tuesday, July 23, the Minority stated that the date change was due to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) launching its 2024 campaign in Tamale on July 27.

The Minority stated that many of its members would be attending the campaign launch, leaving insufficient time to prepare for the protest.

“Following our discussion and conclusion of the date with your office, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced the 27th of July 2024 as the date of the launch of our national campaign in Tamale.”

“Given that this date is so close to our planned demonstration in Accra, the 27th July date has become inconvenient.”

“Pursuant to sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491), I hereby write to request for the rescheduling of the demonstration from its original date of Tuesday 30th July, 2024 to Tuesday 13th August, 2024, between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm. The route remains the same,” the letter signed by Dr Casiel Ato Forson stated.
