Members of the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) have announced a nationwide strike beginning Thursday, September 26, in response to their employer’s failure to meet their demands.

In a letter signed by General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan, MOWAG stated that all mortuaries across the country will be closed on that date to express their dissatisfaction.
The letter outlined several unresolved issues, including the lack of personal protective equipment (PPE), unpaid salary arrears dating back to 2020, the failure to financially clear 500 workers, and the non-payment of the COVID-19 bonus promised by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
As a result, MOWAG members have been instructed to close all mortuaries and remain at home until their demands are addressed.
