Mother Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest living survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for President of the United States.

At 110 years old, her endorsement is deeply significant, reflecting a lifetime of history and resilience.

The Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921 destroyed Black Wall Street, a thriving African American community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, an event Mother Fletcher experienced as a child.

More than a century later, her support for Kamala Harris underscores both the progress made and the responsibilities ahead.

In her endorsement, Mother Fletcher expressed her excitement, stating, “As a dual citizen of both the US and Ghana, I couldn’t be more excited for Kamala Harris as she embarks on the journey of becoming our first female president.

I, Queen Mother Viola Ford Fletcher, and my family endorse her with God’s grace.

At 110 years of age, I will be ready, willing, and able to cast my vote in November. Every vote counts!”

Her endorsement highlights the remarkable progress from a time when the election of a female president, particularly a woman of color, seemed unimaginable.

It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of participating in this pivotal election, honoring the memory of those lost in the Tulsa Race Massacre and those who fought for civil rights.

Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennet, Founder and Head of Mission of The Diaspora African Forum, along with Dr. Toni Luck, played a key role in bringing Mother Fletcher to Africa and supporting her in receiving Ghanaian citizenship, marking a significant moment in her life.

As a proud voter in Oklahoma, Mother Fletcher urges all eligible voters to register and make their voices heard in the upcoming U.S. Elections in November.
